Degree Guidelines
All educational institutions are encouraged to develop their degree programmes in ways that make best use of their strengths and provide stimulating and relevant education experiences. Graduates will follow varying career paths and the educational base should provide for such opportunities. A well-balanced degree programme is widely recognised as providing an educational platform for careers in widely varying fields.
The JBM provides guidelines for each type of degree, for each potential level of engineer:
Accredited BEng (Hons) degrees as a route to becoming a Chartered Engineer
Accredited MEng degrees leading to Chartered Engineer
Accredited Bachelors degrees leading to Incorporated Engineer
The JBM also issue guidance on
entry standards
for entry on to degree courses. Whilst these are not mandatory, they are a good indication of the appropriate level required for successful completion of each degree course. The focus for the JBM Team is more on
output standards,
rather than entry standards, to ensure that the relevant learning outcomes have been met.
